A Blind Person Gropes For Fish
There is a folktale about two blind people buying a fish together, taking it home and boiling it in a pot to prepare a delicious meal. After they carefully prepared the fish, they fished it in the pot, but they could not find it. So they quarrelled. One said that the other stole the fish, and the other was not willing to be outdone. He said that he did not steal the fish. Someone must be playing tricks. The more they quarreled, the more fierce they became. The neighbors heard that the fish had already jumped onto the pot. The fish had not been cooked at all.
This idiom refers to doing things blindly and lacking investigation and research.
